Special Visitors in our Classroom
Today, November 29, Mrs. Cathers came to teach us about medicine pouches and showed us how to make them.
November 18 Leslie, our Aboriginal support worker, came into the class to talk about Rock Your Mocs week. She read us a story and showed us how to make miniature moccasins.
Leslie also taught us how to make key chains that we plan to give away at our potlatch
November 16 Romana came and talked about the significance of beads in First Nations' culture. Afterwards the children made leather and bead bracelets.
November 14 Donna came to do some Halq'emeylem drumming and song with us.
November 2 Rachel came into our class to teach us about button blankets. The kids loved making them and were mad at me when I told them they couldn't go home right away because I wanted to display them.
